Used Tires Will Be Collected In Cumberland County

(Newville Valley Times Star) As tires are one of the best places for mosquitoes to lay their eggs due to being extremely hard to keep dry, Cumberland County is offering a three-day tire drop-off and recycling event for 2023.

Cumberland County residents can dispose of car and truck tires at a collection event May 15, 16 and 17 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Cumberland County Recycling Center at 1001 Claremont Rd. Carlisle, PA 17013.

Each customer is limited to 30 tires per day. All tires will be weighed and disposal fees are 15 cents per lb.

Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Preregistration is required for the event.

Acceptable items for donation include car and truck tires, agricultural tires, lawn and garden tires and racing tires

Items that will not be accepted include shredded tires, tire pieces, and tires filled with mud or debris.

Recycling tires helps eliminate illicit dumping and littering in the county.

This event is sponsored by Cumberland County Recycling and Waste, Cumberland County Vector Control, Pennsylvania DEP and Keep PA Beautiful.
