(Erie news NOW) Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful has launched its annual Litter Hawk Youth Award Program, inviting students in kindergarten through sixth grade to participate in creative, grade-specific projects that promote environmental stewardship.

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful is dedicated to creating a cleaner, more beautiful Pennsylvania. Since 1990, the organization has partnered with volunteers statewide to remove nearly 162 million pounds of trash from roads, waterways, forests, and community spaces.

Its core programs focus on litter and illegal dump prevention, cleanup efforts, community greening, and promoting sustainable waste practices. Working with state and grassroots partners, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful serves as the state affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, the nation’s largest volunteer-based community action and education organization.

This year’s theme is “Celebrate America250 – Keep It Beautiful!” in honor of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary in 2026.
