Understanding & Commitment: How has your experience as a Young Ambassador shaped your understanding of stewardship and civics?

My experience as a Young Ambassador shaped my understanding of stewardship and civics by showing me that meaningful change starts at the community level. Growing up in Boyertown, I was always surrounded by local organizations and volunteer opportunities, but the Young Ambassador program helped me understand the deeper responsibility we all share in protecting and improving the places we call home. It taught me that stewardship is not just about keeping our environment clean, but about actively engaging with our communities and inspiring others to take pride in them as well.

During my time as a Young Ambassador, I led a small team of volunteers in organizing community cleanups. Through this experience, I learned how leadership, organization, and collaboration are essential to creating real impact. Coordinating volunteers, delegating responsibilities, and working together toward a shared goal helped me see how civic engagement brings people together and strengthens communities. It also showed me that even small actions like dedicating time to improve a local space can have a lasting effect when people work collectively.

This experience reinforced many of the values that have continued to guide my involvement in service and leadership. Throughout high school and now in college, I have stayed committed to civic engagement through volunteering, mentoring students, and leading initiatives that bring people together. Whether serving as President of National Honor Society, mentoring first-generation college students through TRIO, or helping organize community-focused events, I have continued to build on the lessons I learned as a Young Ambassador.

Now, as a student at Susquehanna University studying Luxury Brand Marketing and Management with a double major in Advertising and Public Relations, I carry these values with me. I believe stewardship also includes how organizations communicate, advocate for sustainability, and influence communities through responsible leadership and messaging.

Overall, the Young Ambassador program helped me understand that stewardship is an ongoing commitment. It inspired me to use my leadership, communication, and professional skills to make a positive impact in my community and beyond, and it continues to influence how I approach both my education and future career.

Impact: The mission of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful is to empower Pennsylvanians to keep their communities clean and beautiful. With that in mind, describe ways you have positively contributed to your community since becoming a Young Ambassador.

Since becoming a Young Ambassador, I have worked to make a positive impact in my community by combining environmental stewardship with leadership, service, and community engagement. The program encouraged me to think about how individual actions contribute to a larger effort to keep communities clean, connected, and thriving, and I have carried that mindset into many areas of my life.

As a Young Ambassador, I led a small team of volunteers in organizing and participating in community cleanups. Through these projects, we worked together to improve local spaces while also raising awareness about the importance of environmental responsibility. These experiences showed me that stewardship is not only about improving the physical environment but also about inspiring others to take pride in their communities.

Beyond the Young Ambassador program, I have continued contributing to my community through leadership and volunteer service. While serving as President of National Honor Society in high school, I helped organize multiple volunteer events that collectively contributed over 100 hours of service to our community. I also worked with organizations like Key Club and Green Cord to support local initiatives, from donating goods to shelters to assisting at community events.

In addition, I have focused on mentorship and education as ways to give back. As a volunteer tutor with UPchieve, I helped support low-income students by providing academic assistance and encouragement. Now at Susquehanna University, I continue this commitment as a TRIO mentor, where I guide first-generation and underrepresented college students by helping them navigate academic challenges and connect with campus resources.

I have also contributed by helping organizations strengthen their communication and community engagement. Through social media and outreach roles in student organizations and internships, I work to highlight events, promote initiatives, and encourage others to get involved. By sharing stories and opportunities for service, I aim to inspire more people to take an active role in their communities.

Overall, becoming a Young Ambassador motivated me to view community involvement as a lifelong responsibility. Whether through environmental projects, volunteer leadership, mentorship, or community outreach, I strive to positively contribute to the places I am part of and encourage others to do the same

Personal Growth: Please share three things you have learned about yourself because of your experience as a Young Ambassador.

My experience as a Young Ambassador helped me learn several important things about myself, especially about leadership, responsibility, and the impact I can have within my community.

First, I learned that I am capable of being a leader and motivating others toward a shared goal. Leading a team of volunteers during community cleanup projects pushed me outside of my comfort zone and showed me that leadership is not just about giving directions it is about encouraging people, organizing efforts, and working together to create something meaningful. This experience helped me realize that I enjoy bringing people together and guiding teams toward making a positive impact.

Second, I learned that I am deeply passionate about community involvement and service. Being part of the Young Ambassador program showed me how powerful civic engagement can be and how much change can happen when people dedicate time and effort to improving their communities. This realization motivated me to continue volunteering and taking on leadership roles, such as serving as President of National Honor Society in high school and mentoring students through programs like TRIO and UPchieve. These opportunities reinforced that giving back is something I want to continue throughout my life.

Finally, I learned that my voice and actions matter. Before becoming a Young Ambassador, I sometimes underestimated how much influence one person could have. Through organizing projects and working with others who cared about the same issues, I saw how small actions can inspire larger change. This helped me gain confidence in advocating for causes I believe in and speaking up about the importance of environmental responsibility and community pride.

Overall, my experience as a Young Ambassador helped me grow both personally and as a leader. It showed me that I have the ability to make a difference, inspired me to stay involved in my community, and strengthened my confidence in using my skills and voice to create positive change.
