(Erie News Now) Keep America Beautiful had launched the Greatest American Cleanup in 2024. The cleanup was to honor America’s 250th birthday.

Now, the initiative continues to encourage communities to clean up and green up by July 4, 2026.

Residents in the Commonwealth are invited to showcase Pennsylvania at its best. Pick Up Pennsylvania is an opportunity to honor shared history, protect the environment, and celebrate Pennsylvanians home.

Registration for the 2026 Pick Up Pennsylvania has been announced and although being a yearlong effort, will take place from March 1 until May 31. Those who participate during this time will receive free trash bags, gloves, and safety vests while supplies last.

Events must register at keeppabeautiful.org for the free cleanup supplies. Events can include litter cleanup, illegal dump cleanups, community greening and beautification, special collections and anti-litter education events.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association will be sponsoring trash disposal, free of charge or at a reduced rate for registered program participants, at participating landfills, from April 1 through April 30, with prior approval.
