First-Ever Lighthouse To Bayfront Day Highlights Importance Of Keeping Lake Erie Clean

(YourErie.com) A new pop-up event made its debut on Erie’s Bayfront Saturday, encouraging people to keep our community clean.

The Erie Port Authority came to Dobbins landing for the first ever Lighthouse to Bayfront Day.

The event offered free Bicentennial Tower tickets, fishing with the SONS of Lake Erie and trolley rides to the Erie Land Lighthouse.

A fish sculpture was also showcased that doubles as a recycling bin, inviting attendees to pick up litter around the bayfront.

“Our goal is just to make sure that if you’re a resident or a visitor here to be a good steward when you come to Erie, Pennsylvania. You know, the seasons are changing right now, but the volume of litter never changes, it’s a constant problem,” said Don Benczkowski, program coordinator for Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.
