Delaware County Joins the Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Initiative, Launches ‘Keep Delco Beautiful’

(MyChessCo) The Delaware County Office of Sustainability recently announced it has officially become an affiliate of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful (KPB), launching its local chapter, Keep Delco Beautiful. The new affiliation aims to empower Delaware County residents to take action in keeping their communities clean and beautiful.

To secure the affiliation, the Delaware County Office of Sustainability first established an advisory committee comprising local non-profits and community leaders passionate about improving the county’s physical environment. The newly formed Keep Delco Beautiful team then conducted KPB’s Community Assessment, a comprehensive study that gathered data on six key areas, including residents’ views on litter and community image, existing litter prevention programs, community beautification efforts, waste and recycling policies, community revitalization initiatives, and active volunteer groups.

The findings from the Community Assessment will now serve as the foundation for developing a local plan aimed at transforming attitudes and behaviors concerning litter, recycling, beautification, and related matters.

“Forming Keep Delco Beautiful not only provides us access to new tools for achieving the County’s Zero Waste goals, as established in Sustain Delco: A Sustainability Plan for Delaware County, but it also formalizes our commitment to working with our community in pursuit of KPB’s vision of a clean and beautiful Pennsylvania,” said Delaware County Sustainability and Resilience Manager, and Keep Delco Beautiful affiliate coordinator, Rebecca Yurkovich.
