38 Trees, 14 Shrubs Planted Along Goshen Trail In Newtown Square
(Patch.com – Maple Newton Local News) Grant funding helped Newtown Square in Bloom this weekend plant 38 native trees and 14 native shrubs along a portion of Goshen Trail.
Newtown Square in Bloom this weekend held a tree planting event along the Goshen Walking Trail in Newtown Square.
According to Newtown Square in Bloom, the trees were planted thanks to the support of The GIANT Company, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, and a grant secured by State Rep. Lisa Borowski (D-168th).
The group used the $4,000 Giant grant and the $10,000 grants to replant 38 native trees and 14 native shrubs on the mile-long tree corridor between the Goshen Walking Trail and Goshen Road where many of the ash trees had to be removed due to the Emerald Ash Borer.
“We are extremely grateful to Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful and PA Representative District 168th, Lisa Borowski, for helping our township secure these grants,” Paul Seligson, Chairperson of Newtown Square in Bloom, said. “And for the extensive help from the Newtown Township Public Works Department and master arborist, Dave Hilbert. These native trees and shrubs will improve air quality, help manage storm water runoff and enhance the experience for trail users.”
