Daily Local News – Groups collaborate on fruit tree planting at Hancock School You probably wouldn’t want to do much planting in the pouring rain, but for nonprofit Fruit Tree Planting Foundation it’s all in a day’s work. Equipped with apple trees, pear trees, peach trees, plum trees, even a paw paw tree — a tropical fruit native to Pennsylvania, according to the foundation — plus aronia and blueberry bushes, the organization joined its partners in the Vitafusion Fruit Tree Project at Hancock Elementary School on Friday Along with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and Keep Norristown Beautiful, the group planted more than 20 fruit trees at Hancock before heading to Roosevelt School with another 20, all of which will provide nutrition and education for Norristown students and residents when they ripen into a mature orchard in about four years.
