College Internship Program

York, Salem Square
Urban Mural Project

The City of York was initially laid out in 1741 and, as the United State's first capital, played an important role in our nation's early development. Today, York's history can be seen in its diverse community and beautiful building stock.

The project in York aims to build community and to beautify the Salem Square Neighborhood by creating a mural. Interns will be working closely with York's Salem Square Community Association to plan and paint the mural. The Philadelphia Mural Arts program will be another partner in the project and will teach interns basic mural painting techniques. As with all of our mural projects, interns will learn how to create a painting process that engages a large number of community members.
