Community Garden

Allegheny College's Arts & Environment Initiative is partnering with the Redevelopment Authority and the local community to develop a garden on an empty lot adjacent to the historic Market House. The garden will establish a community green space in the heart of the Central Business District. It will also demonstrate stormwater interventions through the creation of rain gardens and rainwater harvesting. Native plants will be used to beautify the lot and create habitat for birds and butterflies.
