The borough of Irwin was incorporated in 1864 and gets its name
from the late Col. Irwin. The quaint town is located on the outskirts
of Pittsburgh and has a thriving local economy. Along Irwin's Main
St. there are dozen's of unique shops and businesses.
The internship project in Irwin aims to encourage more investment
in the downtown by engaging the local community in the re-design
and re-construction of a community green space/ small park. Interns
working in Irwin will be partnered with a local Community Development
Corporation, called The Irwin Project, to plan and implement the
project. Interns involved in this project will have the opportunity
to live in the community and close to the project site.
