Harrisburg, South Allison Hill
Urban Youth Education Program
Located along the banks of the Susquehanna, The City of Harrisburg
has evolved from a Native American settlement into Pennsylvania's
capital. The city has become nationally known for it urban revitalization
initiatives.
Interns in Harrisburg will contribute to the city's revitalization
initiative by designing and running a youth education program in
Allison Hill. The project will be supervised by the Community Action
Commission and will partner with The Catholic Worker House and various
other community organizations. The partnership will engage approximately
15 to 20 youth between the ages of 8 and 13. The objective of the
program is twofold: 1) to teach youth about the importance of greening
and community by organizing small greening projects, and 2) to beautify
the community with small greening projects.
