Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful was awarded a $75,000 grant from The Home Depot Foundation for its Ohio Valley Region VA Hospital Community Beautification and Greening Project. In partnership with Keep Ohio Beautiful and Team Depot, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful will revitalize outdoor green spaces at two Veteran Affair Hospitals in the Ohio Valley Region including the Columbus VA Medical Center and VA Butler Healthcare.

Over 4,000 events are held each year with this event across the state that is held between March 1st and May 31st. Sponsors for the video contest are Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association, and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Offers High Tech Surveillance Camera to Help Curb Illegal Dumping

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful (KPB) took the opportunity during an enforcement session at the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors' 91st Annual Educational Conference and Trade Show to announced a new pilot program using surveillance cameras to help curb illegal dumping. The Illegal Dump Surveillance Support Pilot Program is designed to provide surveillance cameras to eligible organizations in western Pennsylvania to help capture evidence at active, illegal dumpsites. KPB will loan three high quality surveillance cameras and provide training and assistance to selected applicants. Grant recipients will work with local enforcement agencies to ultimately reduce illegal dumping through successful prosecutions.

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Receives $15,000 Grant to Continue Cigarette Litter Prevention Program

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful has announced that they have received a $15,000 grant from Keep America Beautiful to continue their work with the Keep America Beautiful Cigarette Litter Prevention Program. The three $5,000 block grants include Erie State Parks, the City of Pittsburgh, and the City of Erie and surrounding area.

Registration is Now Open for the 2013 Great American Cleanup of PA

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful announced that registration is now open for the 2013 Great American Cleanup of PA. Event coordinators can visit the Great American Cleanup of PA webpage, www.gacofpa.org, to register their event. This annual event is held in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup of Keep America Beautiful and in partnership with support from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, PennDOT, and Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association. Additional partnering businesses include the American Chemistry Council, Greenstar Recycling, Pennsylvania Beverage Association, Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association, Republic Services, Steel Recycling Institute, and Weis Markets.

2012 International Coastal Cleanup Removes over 714,000 Pounds of Trash Statewide in Pennsylvania

Nearly 8,000 volunteers from 48 counties across Pennsylvania canvassed their communities to remove over 714,000 pounds of trash and debris from Pennsylvania’s waterways and coastal regions during the 2012 International Coastal Cleanup event.
