Nov5 Mifflin County - Wakefield Road Cleanup

Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup sponsored by PA CleanWays of Mifflin County - This roadside litter cleanup is taking place on Wakefield Road in Oliver Township.  Volunteers will meet at 9 AM at the church between Strodes Run Road and Wakefield Road along Ferguson Valley Road. Gloves, vests, bags and drinks will be provided. Lunch will also be provided after the cleanup. If time permits, we will also try to clean Big Ridge Road in Granville Township. Education Event in Westmoreland County, sponsored by Westmoreland Cleanways - This event is being held at the Oak Hollow Park in North Huntingdon Township.  This Backyard Composting Workshop is taught by experienced Penn State Master Gardeners, and will explain how to turn organic kitchen and yard waste into a nourishing soil enrichment that improves soil structure, attracts beneficial organisms, and provides all the nutrients a plant needs to thrive without chemical additives. The cost of the workshop is $10 per person, payable at the door, and pre-registration is required. (*Westmoreland Cleanways reserves the right to cancel a workshop with insufficient enrollment.) Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup sponsored by Keep Perry County Beautiful - This cleanup is being held on Lower Bailey Road in Newport, Miller Township.  This is the third, and hopefully the final cleanup to be held at this site.  Previously, 37 volunteers cleaned up 6.1 tons of trash and close to 520 tires.  Gloves, as well as lunch and drinks will be provided to volunteers. Educational Event sponsored by Keep York County Beautiful - This three day conference teaches why illegal dumping and litter are sources for rodents and breed mosquitoes that may transmit diseases. Laws about pesticides continue to change. Following the recommendations of Integrated Pest Management, promoting cleanups will eliminate the need for pesticides. Nov19 Cambria County - Church Street Cleanup

Illegal Dump/Litter Cleanup sponsored by Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful and Keep Cambria County Beautiful - This cleanup event is along Church Street in Blacklick Township. Volunteers should meet at 9:00 AM at the former Saint Timothy & Saint Mark Catholic Church in Twin Rocks on SR 271.  We will carpool to the cleanup site from there.  Lunch and drinks will be provided so registration is required by November 18th.  All volunteers should wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants.
